***COVID-19 Special Education Services Guidance for Families Served by LCNCK***

As of March 16, 2020, with the Governor’s executive order to temporarily close K-12 school buildings, your child’s special education services for the remainder of the school year will need to be reconsidered due to the District Continuous Learning Plan.  At this time each individual district is working with KSDE to develop a Continuous Learning Plan for all students, including those in special education.

It our goal at LCNCK to plan and prepare for instruction and maintain IDEA compliance as is outlined in the KSDE Continuous Learning Plan.  We recognize there may be a discrepancy between the services available and your child’s IEP for the next few months.  Your child’s services continue to be priority and during the creation of the Individualized Continuous Learning Plans the determination of how FAPE is to be provided may need to be different in this time of unprecedented national emergency.

The changes in special education services were not an IEP team decision but an effect of changes in general education due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
