Driver Education Homepage
Hi, Parents of Summer 2013 Driver Education students!
To enroll in Driver Education, a student must be 14 years of age on or before May 28, 2013.
Due to the Memorial Day weekend, the first week of driver education will meet Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday June 1, 2013. Classroom instruction will resume Monday, June 3 through Friday June 7.
Students are assigned to either the 9:00-12:00 noon morning session or the 1:00-4:00 p.m. afternoon session. State policy requires that all students receive 30 hours of classroom instruction (3 hours/day for 10 days) and successfully meet the class work requirements.
The student will also be required to complete 6 hours of driving time and 6 hours of observation time.
An enrollment fee of $100 is due by April 15, 2013. Contact the High School office at 243-2452.

Driver Education Course Description
Driver education students will study and practice using the mental, physical, and social skills required of a safe driver. Instruction will cover knowledge of the laws and the techniques required for safe and responsible driving. They will receive in class and behind the wheel instruction. Students who achieve proficiency in classroom work and behind the wheel instruction will receive a certificate of completion to be presented at the local Department of Motor Vehicle Office. Students must be 14 years of age prior to the first day of classroom instruction. A vsion test and classroom fees will be required. Materials used will include the Kansas State Driver Handbook, the Drive Right textbook published by Scott Foresman Addison Wesley and Internet sites.
CLASS MATERIALS

GRADING
1. The student will complete the required classroom assignments
with an 80% or better competency on each worksheet or test.
A grade of 0 will be recorded in the grade book if the student does not achieve the 80% or better grade on a test. If the assignment is missing, the student needs to complete the work or re-do the assignment. Please allow a couple of days for me to grade and record the paperwork. Thank you.
2. The student will perform the required driving tasks with an 80% or better competency on each driving skill. A minimum of 6 hours of in-car driving will be scheduled.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: As we study each chapter, the student's main responsibilities and priorities during the class period are:
1. Read the assigned chapter at home prior to class.
2. Complete and turn in on time the required worksheets as assigned by the teacher.
3. Be attentive in class.
4. Re-take worksheets or tests to achieve a grade of 80% or better. Tests are not to be taken home.
DO NOT LET RE-TAKE ASSIGNMENTS ACCUMULATE !
