Where Are They Now - Kaye Vaughn - Class of 1949
Mr. Vaughan overcame an
asthmatic health condition to be voted the most valuable player on
the Panther football squad during his senior year. As an
outstanding tackle and agile blocker he went on to play for the
Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, in 1950-52. He was inducted into the Tulsa
Hall of Fame in 1990. He went on to play 12 professional seasons
for the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. He was
selected to the All-Star team, in the CFL, 10 times (offensively
and defensively) and won the Schenley Award as Canada’s outstanding
lineman in 1956 and 57. Mr. Vaughan was inducted into the Canadian
Football Hall of Fame in 1978. After retiring from football, Kaye
taught, coached and served as a school district administrator in
Knolton, Canada.
Kaye Vaughan was recently named one of the 50 greatest football
players to play in the Canadian Football League during the past 60
years.
Mr. Vaughan is married to former Alpine World Skiing Champion and
Canadian Sports Hall of Fame member, Lucille Wheeler.
