USD 333 District Nurse

Jayme Peterson

My name is Jayme Peterson, I am a registered nurse and serve as the USD #333 district nurse.
My job is to assist students, families and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education.
School nursing is a specialty branch of professional nursing that seeks to prevent or identify student health or health-related problems and intervenes to modify or remediate these problems. A comprehensive school health program includes delivery of health services and health education which directly contributes to the student's education as well as the health of the family and community.
Some of my duties that involve students include assessing injuries and illnesses. Auditing, monitoring and reporting immunizations for state compliance. Perform state required vision and hearing screenings. Serve as liaison for health services and referrals. Assist with and help meet student special health needs and concerns during the school year.
