CMS Students Participate in Hoops for Heart
This year the Concordia Middle School’s goal for Hoops For Heart was to raise $5,000 ($31.00 per student). We had 45 students participate out of the 176 students that attend CMS. Total money raised that was sent to the American Heart Association was $2,235.00
This year incentives for the students were;
1-A CLASS COMPETITION –Be the top class to raise money and your class will get a Subway Party
*Student has to collect $10.00 to be eligible and turn their money in by the due date.
2-PE TEACHER FOR THE DAY –The top fundraiser in each class gets to teach P.E. for a day.
3- WATER SQUEEZIE’S –For every $20.00 a student collects, they will get a water
Squeezie that they can use to throw at Mrs. Blackwood and Ms. Harvey.
4- SMELLY PENCIL - Send out 10 e-mails to family and friends and get a smelly pencil
P.E. Teacher for the day went to 6th graders; Steehl Limon, Rachel Kling, Claire Conway, and Jade Williams. 5th graders; Drake Revell, Callahan Figgs, Tryston Jochems, and Mara Vanous The top 5th grade fundraiser was Drake Revell with $125.00 and the top 6th grade fundraiser was Steehl Limon with $252.00
Students who raised$100.00 or more were 6th graders; Aaron Elwood, Steehl Limon, Rebecca Thornton and Jade Williams. 5th grader; Drake Revell
The top 6th grade class that raised the most money was Mrs. Brown’s (specials) class with $884.00; and the top 5th grade class that raised the most money was Mr. Hutchinson’s class with $323.00. These two classes won a subway party.
Money raised for Hoops For Heart is sent to the American Heart Association for advanced research to help eliminate our countries number one killer, heart disease and number three killer, stroke. Thank you to the CMS students that collected money for such a great cause.
