Students perform at KMEA
Concordia High School students Gabe Bergmann, Marie Brewer, Garrett Brummett, Drew Knapp, Olivia Leif, Heather Letourneau, Tristin Morgan, Gabe Sprague, and Logan Whitney were selected through an individual audition process to participated in the KMEA State Honor Choir in Wichita on February. 23-25. The students rehearsed throughout the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and then gave an outstanding performance Saturday afternoon.
All 9 were chosen as representatives from the North Central District after auditioning in early November. Only 8 sopranos, 8 Altos, 8 Tenors, and 8 Basses are selected from the North Central District to participate in the KMEA State Choir out of over 400 students who auditioned. “It is a great honor to be selected to the KMEA State Choir.” “It is the highest honor a high school choir student can receive. It is the equivalent of being chosen as an All-State athlete among all the classes,” said their director Kevin Johnson. Concordia High School had more students chosen to the All-State Choir than any other 4A school in the state.
This is the third year in a row for Garrett Brummett, senior, to be selected to the KMEA State Honor Choir. On Saturday, he received his 3 Year Medallion at the concert.
