Mark your calendars for February 25, 2012, so you can join us at the NCK Honor Flight Auction. Our first donations were made by Justin Hattan, CHS graduate, now working at the White House in Washington DC. He has generously donated the Presidential Wooden Pen Set and the White House Cuff-Links and Tie Pin.
Items to be auctioned will also include a variety of autographed items from local celebrities, as well as some famous out-of-towners. Other items will include gift baskets from various individuals and organizations and household items too numerous to mention. We are currently accepting donations for items to be auctioned. (You may chose to donate the items or a percent of the money raised through the sale of your item.) Please contact Bev Mortimer or Dannie Kearn, at 785-243-3518.
The day will include the auction, a great concession and lunch, and a silent auction. The auction will be held at Kearn Auction House, in Concordia. Check back on our NCK Honor Flight page for additional photos of items and additional details for the auction as we get closer to the date.
Student Guardians are selling raffle tickets for a chance to win one of three prizes: 1) $150 fuel card, 2) $100 fuel card, and 3) Amazon Kindle Touch w/case. The drawings will be held at the auction on Feb. 25th.
The NCK Honor Flight will take its second trip to Washington DC in May of 2012. More than 20 WW II Veterans will travel to Washington DC to visit their memorial, as well as other sites. Approximately 12 school staff members and students will travel as Guardians for the Veterans. The group will also include some community Guardians and a Physician. Contact Bev Mortimer for more information, especially if you know a WW II Veteran that has not had the opportunity to be honored by taking this trip.
