Concordia High School Vocal Music Department
The Concordia High School
Vocal Music Department has had a busy and extremely successful
April.
On April 4th, the CHS Singers and 6 soloists competed at the
Regional Solo and Small Group Music Festival in Manhattan. The CHS
Singers received a Superior “1” Rating. Also receiving an
Outstanding “1” Rating were Bryan Longfellow, Tressa Studt, Jasmine
Kyle, Martha Carlson, and Madison Deal on their vocal solos.
Receiving an Excellent “2” Rating that day for her vocal solo was
Natalie Hartzell.
April 15th brought the State Large Group Music Festival in
Concordia. Choirs from all over this area of the state competed.
Both the CHS Women’s Ensemble and the CHS Chamber Choir received
straight Superior “1” Ratings from all 3 judges. The CHS Chamber
Choir was the highest rated choir of the entire festival. Only 5
choirs received “1” Ratings throughout the entire day of
competition and Concordia High School groups received two of those
1 Ratings.
Those who received a “1” rating at the Regional Solo and Small
Group Music Festival were eligible to compete at the 4A State Solo
and Small Group Music Festival in Andover on April 25th. Those
competing on the 25h were the CHS Singers, Bryan Longfellow, Tressa
Studt, Jasmine Kyle, Martha Carlson, and Madison Deal. The CHS
Singers received an Outstanding “1” Rating for their vocal ensemble
performance. Bryan Longfellow, Tressa Studt, Jasmine Kyle received
Outstanding “1” Ratings on their vocal solos as well. Martha
Carlson and Madison Deal received Excellent “2” Ratings on their
vocal solos.
