Challenge Award Recognition

USD 333 representatives from Concordia Middle School and Concordia Jr./Sr. High School attended the 2008 Challenge Awards banquet, at Junction City Middle School, on November 12, 2008. The schools were awarded a Certificate of Merit for outstanding accomplishment in closing the achievement gap in reading and math. The awards were given to one grade level in the categories of reading and math, in each of the ten State Board of Education districts. The recipients were chosen based on their scores on the 2008 Kansas State Assessments. The criteria for receiving the award was based on the group size and the percent of students qualifying for free and reduced lunches in those groups, as well as outstanding test scores. CMS earned the recognition for 6th grade math and CJSHS earned honors in 7th grade reading.
