April 2008 - CHS News from the Principal
April 01, 2008
With April upon us, Concordia Jr. /Sr. High becomes busier than ever! Our kids are going to be swamped with Kansas State Assessment testing, MAP testing, track meets, baseball/softball games, tennis, golf, band concerts, choir concerts, music festivals, art contests…the list goes on and on! As parents and teachers, we have to realize that some of our kids are in most of these activities and are at times overextended. As parents, we have to help organize our kid’s schedules, making sure that they get the sleep and nutrition they need to maintain that hectic pace. Sometimes it’s even good as a parent to tell their child “no” when it comes to adding even more to an already very full schedule. As teachers, we have to realize that we need to deliver quality instruction, with rigor to help prepare our kids for the future, but to also realize that too much can be counter- productive. It is a fine line that teachers walk in the spring, to get maximum effort from kids that are exhausted at times! If we can work together, parents and teachers, we can keep our kids headed in the right direction, with health and confidence, through this busy time.
