• Site Council Report
C. Feriend gave the 7-12 report and Heather Isbell gave the K-6 report.

• Preschool Presentation
Heather Isbell gave an overview of the preschool program which is in its third year.

• Job Descriptions/Evaluation Forms/Peer-Mentoring Program
The board reviewed a sample of updated job descriptions and evaluation forms for classified staff for USD and LCNCK The LCNCK Peer-Mentoring Program was reviewed along with a job description for LCNCK assistant director of special education.

• KASB Policy-KGA Use of District Personal Property and Equipment
The board reviewed this new policy suggestion from KASB. Due to KSHSAA deleting Rule 35-1-5, it now allows school districts the capability to loan football helmets, shoulder pads, etc. for student use at camps, etc. with stipulations that they sign a hold harmless agreement, list the school district as an additional insurer on their insurance policy, and pay the cost for the equipment to be reconditioned or recertified upon return. The board will take action on this policy at the April board meeting.

• Educational Consultant Study of 2000
The board reviewed the district’s educational study that was done in 2000 by Jerry McCall. The board will further consider this information as they continue strategic planning.

• Bus Use – Sampler Festival
Supt. Mortimer informed the board that a request would be coming of the district to allow the use of our buses and drivers to shuttle people during the sampler festival from parking locations to the park.

• Approve CHS Curriculum Handbook Changes
The board approved the CHS Curriculum Handbook as presented except Science Honors Seminar was removed from the handbook.

• Approve 2008-09 School Calendar
The board set the beginning date for teacher inservice as August 8, 2008 and the ending date of May 22, 2009 as a teacher work day.

• Accept/Reject Bus Bids
The board rejected all bus bids as they did not meet bid specs. New bids will be reviewed at the April meeting.

• Approve Audit Contract
The board approved the 3-year audit contract with Mapes and Miller, CPAs.

• Approve Leo Club
The board approved adding Leo Club as a student organization at Concordia Jr.-Sr. High School and to establish a CHS activity fund for the club.

• Approval of CHS HVAC Project Change Order
The board approved the change order with Pestinger Heating and Air Conditioning for $24,427 to add digital controls to the library and kitchen air handling units to eliminate the pneumatic system.

• Emergency Notification System
The board approved using the services of SchoolMessenger beginning with the 2008-09 school year. This is a web-based program that allows the district to send massive notifications to parents on attendance, field trips, school closings, emergencies, etc. via phone or email.

• Accept Resignations
The board accepted the resignations/retirements of Alice Boschek, LCNCK Interrelated Teacher, Theresa Gram, CHS Science Teacher, and Aaron Larsen, Kindergarten and CMS Art Teacher, at the end of the 2007-08 school year.

• New Hires for 2008-09
The board approved the hire of Anna Miller, LCNCK Interrelated Teacher for Washington County Schools for the 2008-09 school year. Anna will replace Mary Ann Crome.

• Act on Administrator Contracts
The board approved extending the contracts of Bev Mortimer, Audrey Pingel, Gregg Errebo, Karl Stricker, and Chris Fall through 2010 and Corey Isbell and Doug Elias through 2009.

• Approve Administrative Salaries for 2008-09
The board approved a 4.377% increase to the administrative salaries for 2008-09 except for Gregg Errebo which had previously contracted for his 2008-09 salary upon hire. The 4.377% increase is the same that has been applied to the teacher’s salary schedule for 2008-09.

• Approve Classified Salaries for 2008-09
The board approved a 4.377% increase to the base of the classified salary schedules and to approve a 4.377% salary increase for those classified staff members not on the salary schedules.
