Concordia High School students Emily Redmond and Joshua Johnson have been selected to participate in the KMEA State Honor Choir in Wichita on Feb. 28- March 1. Braden Bruntzel was selected as an alternate. Emily is a senior at CHS and the daughter of Pastor David and Marilyn Redmond. Joshua is a junior at CHS and the son of Kevin and Sheri Johnson. Braden is a senior and the son of Royce and Brenda Bruntzel. This is the 2nd year in a row that Emily Redmond and Joshua Johnson have been selected to the KMEA All-State Honor Choir.

Both Emily and Joshua were chosen as representatives from the North Central District after auditioning in early November. Only 8 sopranos, 8 Altos, 8 Tenors, and 8 Basses are selected from the North Central District to participate in the KMEA State Choir out of over 400 students who auditioned. “It is a great honor to be selected to the KMEA State Choir.” “It is like being chosen for All-State among All Classes in athletics”, said their director Kevin Johnson.

The KMEA State Choir begins rehearsal on Thursday Afternoon at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Wichita. Rehearsals continue Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning. A concert will be performed at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon at the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Conductor of the 2008 KMEA State Honor Choir will be Dr. Janet Galvan, professor of music at Ithaca College in New York. The public is invited to attend. General Admission tickets will be available an hour before the concert.

Emily and Joshua are both members of the CHS Chamber Choir and the Concordia High School Singers.
