February 2008 - CHS News from the Principal
February 01, 2008
On January
29, we honored 82 students at Concordia Junior/Senior High School
who scored exemplary on their 2007 Kansas State Assessment Tests,
in either math or reading, or both. Each of these students
took the necessary steps of working hard in class, listening to
their teachers, asking the necessary questions and preparing for
those tests. They were rewarded with a certificate and their
name will be inscribed on a plaque in our main hallway in the high
school. But I also hope they were also rewarded with the
intrinsic feeling of a job well done and the work that was required
to accomplish that goal. Many times in life that is what is
most important: the self satisfaction one has when times are
tough but you see a project through to the end and reach your
goals. I hope the students we honored feel this way.
On February 1, we honored 230 of our
students who through their diligence in the areas of academics,
attendance and attitude have qualified to be part of our
Renaissance program. 72 have qualified for the highest level,
Gold, and of those students 49 high schoolers are entered in a
drawing for a car, which has been donated by Mike Lamm of the Babe
Houser Motor Company. 23 junior high students will be in a
drawing for a laptop computer. I hope these students are also
proud of the efforts they have expended in reaching this
goal. I can assure you that the faculty and staff here in the
building are very proud of them.
