Homework

This can be a word that strikes fear among students, but it can be an extremely valuable learning tool. How we deal with homework is very important to the success of our students in the future. Homework not only expands the opportunity for students to engage in learning activities, but it also allows parents insight into their child’s education.

The following is a list of helpful hints for completing homework:

Have the student work on homework as soon as they get home from school, as the information will be more recent to the student.

Have a space reserved for your student that is free from distractions, contrary to what some students will tell you, it is not productive to be in front of a blaring television set while doing homework.

Make sure that your student takes short breaks on longer homework projects. Working on a project for multiple hours will wear out an adult, let alone a young student.

Be sure your student has everything they need to complete the project. This may include scissors, glue, crayons, etc. It can be frustrating to the student if they cannot find the needed materials to complete an assignment.

If your student is having difficulty finishing the assignment, do not hesitate to call your student’s teacher for assistance.

There are many other suggestions and tips to help your student complete their homework, but we hope these few will help get your student started on healthy homework habits.
