Wind For Schools

Jr. High Science Instructor, has been selected to attend the 2007
Wind for Schools Summit, at the National Wind Technology Center, in
Golden, Colorado. He will participate in a course in wind energy
and learn about the “Wind for Schools” program. Expenses for this
conferences are being paid by the national sponsoring agencies,
listed below.
USD 333 officials are exploring various opportunities to bring wind
energy curriculum to the schools. One of these opportunities is the
“Wind for Schools” program sponsored by the Kansas Rural Center, in
partnership with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in
Golden, Colorado. The Kansas Rural Center will facilitate a program
to install wind turbines at approximately five rural schools each
year. Kansas State University will establish a Wind Application
Center to provide assistance for the program. USD 333 will apply
for a grant to implement this program later this school
year.
