- Student Accomplishments
CHS and CMS student accomplishments were reported on.
- Title I Report
Tammy Zimmerman gave the annual Title I report.
- CHS Schedule
Principal Hochhalter reported on the survey results from teachers / parents / students of the current 3-2 schedule. Ashley Carlgren as the staff’s spokesperson, along with other staff, and students presented concerns with the current 3-2 schedule and why CHS needs a 1-4 schedule. The board set a special meeting for Monday, April 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the high school library to discuss the schedule further.
- KASB Spring Regional Meeting/New Board Member Workshops
Board members are to contact Denise if they will attend the KASB regional meeting or new board member workshops to be held around the state.
- Review Maintenance Priorities
The heating and AC project at CHS, regular summer maintenance of building and grounds, and the make-over contest winner project were the top three priorities and the board members were asked to prioritize the other remaining projects for consideration which included: JH floor tile-hallway, JH restroom updates, paint trim at CMS and Lincoln, sidewalk around CHS parking lot, repair sidewalk on 10th street side of CHS, storage shed and restrooms at football stadium/track, library carpet, and auditorium walls.
- Textbook Request
The board reviewed the textbook requests of Kathy Roberts, CHS FACS instructor, for From School to Work and Teen Life.
- Handbook Revisions
CMS and CHS student handbook revisions were reviewed.
- Student Insurance
The board reviewed quotes from three companies that provide student insurance. The board will decide on the provider for 2007-08 at the May board meeting.
- Coke Contracts
Supt. Mortimer informed the board that the district’s contract with Coke for the vending machines, concession stands, etc. will expire in May and that she will be sending information to the vendors for them to submit for board review at the May meeting.
- CHS Curriculum Handbook Additions
Geography and Intermediate Algebra course descriptions for the CHS curriculum handbook were reviewed.
- QZAB Resolution
The board approved the resolutions to authorize the district to enter into a base lease and a lease purchase agreement for equipping, repairing and improving existing school facilities in the principal amount of $1,050,000.00 and approving the form of said agreement between the district and Citizens National Bank, Peoples Exchange Bank, and United Bank and Trust.
- Accept/Reject HVAC Bids
The board accepted the bid for the CHS HVAC project in the amount of $1,649,150.00 along with alternate bid #1 in the amount of $15,650.00 to remove boilers and accessories, from Pestinger's out of Salina, KS. The estimated completion date is September 30th.
- 2007-08 Calendar
The board approved the second proposal of the 2007-08 calendar which will consist of 176.5 student days, 5.5 work days, 5 inservices and 2 PTC days. August 13th will be the starting teacher day with 1/2 Inservice and 1/2 Workday and May 23rd will end the year with a teacher work day.
- Accept Resignations
The board accepted the retirements of John Culley, CHS Cat Scratch Teacher, and Carol Ruud, 6th Grade Teacher, and the resignation of Mona Simmons, CHS Math Teacher, at the completion of the 2006-07 school year.
- New Hires for 2007-08
The board approved the following hires for the 2007-08 school year:
- Gregg Errebo, Concordia Jr./Sr. High Principal
- Kona Errebo, K-6 Librarian
- Michael Roe, CHS Math Teacher
- Vanessa Pingel, LCNCK K-4 Learning Center Teacher
- Dick Switzer, CHS Head Girls Basketball Coach
