K-6 Site Council Notes - March 2007
March 14, 2007
The March Site Council meeting was held at the Middle School Library on Wednesday, February 14 at 11:30. Those in attendance were: Becky Jones, Karl Stricker, Chris Fall, Sara Hutchinson, Brandt Hutchinson, Theresa Bonebrake, Laura Barta, Lisa Knapp, Jolene Kindel, Kathleen Miller, Ronda Gumm, and Susan Ball.
The Wellness brochure was discussed and handed out for members to see the final copy if they hadn't yet seen it. There were many positive comments about the brochure, as it was handed out at conferences. These brochures will also be included in the enrollment packet for new students, and will be passed out during enrollment in August.
Lisa reported on information she had gotten about CARES dogs. There are a lot of possibilities for using these dogs in schools. There are also many questions we would like to have answered about the costs of having one, the primary caretaker and handler responsibilities, and various other details. There is a grant available for schools in Cloud County to apply for to help defray the initial cost of $500. Lisa had a list of schools that use a CARE dog, and several members signed to contact some of these schools and hear what they have to say about the pros and cons of the dogs and how they use them. Jolene suggested that it be brought up at the April board meeting during the Site council report, and Chris and Karl would help with that.
Under new or old business Lisa asked if there were any directions needing attention or things for us to look at. Karl mentioned that the Safe Routes to School goal is to have a proposal by July.
Theresa Bonebrake is scheduled to report to the board in March.
The next Site Council meeting will be at 11:30 on Wednesday, April 11 at the CES Library.
