The board accepted the resignations of Greg Ferguson, athletic director, and Laura Barta, 7th grade girls basketball coach, at the end of the 2006-07 school year.

- Audience with Visitors
Tina Walsh and Ken Otott addressed the board concerning the acceptance of Cheryl Hochhalter’s resignation as CHS Principal. Danyel Aldridge presented a petition, signed by students, pertaining to the retention of the CHS Principal. Robert Walsh, County Attorney, commented on his work experience with Cheryl Hochhalter and commented on the responsibility seminars that he and Wanda Backstrom presented at CHS.

Report
Officer Ric Fredrickson, School Resource Officer, reported to the board on his duties and responsibilities for the 2006-07 school year.
- HVAC/Electrical
Project
Karl Stricker reviewed the progress of the CHS HVAC/electrical project. Latimer and Sommers should have the bids for the remainder of the project for the board to consider at the March meeting. Supt. Mortimer reported that the district received notification of receiving QZAB funds for 2006-07. These bonds will help finance the remainder of the CHS HVAC/electrical project. A meeting has been set for Feb. 15th with local bank representatives to discuss their assistance with the bonds and Learn.com has committed to the required 10% matching of funds for the QZAB by making available to the district Microsoft product licenses for on-line courses.
- Science
Curriculum Handbook Additions
The board reviewed the two science course additions for the CHS Curriculum Handbook—Science Investigations and Earth & Space Science. These handbook changes will be approved at the March board meeting.
· 2007-08 Calendar
The board reviewed a 2007-08 school calendar. Teacher Inservice
days would begin on August 13th; August 16th having classes for K,
5, 7, & 9 classes and new students to the district only to
allow them a transition day to a new building; all students would
begin classes on August 17th; and classes would end May 23rd with a
½ teacher workday on May 24th. The board will set the beginning and
ending dates for the 2007-08 calendar at the March board
meeting.
· CHS Curriculum Handbook
Changes
The board approved the CHS curriculum handbook changes as
presented.
· Special Use of School
Buses Policy EDDA
The board adopted policy EDDA which may allow the use of the
district’s school buses by:
Parents and/or other adults when traveling to or from
school-related functions or activities;
Students traveling to or from functions or activities co-sponsored by the district and other organizations, the membership of which is principally composed of children of school age;
Persons engaged in field trips related to an adult education program maintained by the district;
Community college students enrolled in the community college to or from attendance at class at the community college or to and from functions or activities of the community college.
Another school district if
there is a cooperative and shared-cost arrangement with that
district.
· Accept Resignation
The board accepted the resignation of Cheryl Hochhalter, CHS
Principal at the completion of the 2006-07 school year.
· Act on Administrative
Contracts for 2007-08
The board offered Chris Fall, Andy Farber and Karl Stricker
contracts for the 2007-08 school year and extended the contracts of
Bev Mortimer and Mary Ellen Welshhon for one year.
