December Board Meeting Synopsis

The board toured CMS prior to the meeting.  Stephanie Stindt presented a short presentation on Compass Learning.

  • CMS Teacher Presentation

Sarah Harvey demonstrated the smart board and technology that she uses in her classroom.

  • KASB Convention

Board members reported on the different sessions they attended at the KASB Convention in Wichita December 2-3, 2006.

  • Legislative Luncheon

Supt. Mortimer reported on the legislative luncheon she attended on December 8th in Salina.

  • Alternative High School Graduation

The alternative high school graduation will be held on December 15th at 10:00 a.m. in the board room.  Steven Bryant will be the speaker for the graduation.

  • Staffing Outlook for State & USD #333

Supt. Mortimer presented a power point presentation which covered the state's and USD 333's certified teacher licensure report, teacher shortages, teacher retirements, comparisons of teacher salaries, KSDE certified staff working conditions survey results, and administrative reorganization structures for the district.

  • Board of Education Positions up for Election

* Steve Champlin - Position No. 1 - Sub-District No. 1 - All that portion of the City of Concordia, Kansas, north of a line following the center of the street beginning at the west city limits and 9th Street, thence east on 9th Street to Cloud Street, thence south to 11th Street, thence east to the city  limits.

Wanda Backstrom - Position No.2  - Sub-District No. 2 - All that portion of the city of Concordia, Kansas, south and west of a line following the center of the street beginning at the west city limits and 9th Street, thence east on 9th Street to Cloud Street, thence south to 11th Street, thence west to Hill Street, thence south to 14th Street, thence west to Lincoln Street (U.S. Highway 81), thence south to the city limits. 

* Jolene Kindel - Position No. 3 - Sub-District No. 3 - All that portion of U.S.D. 333 lying outside the city limits of the City of Concordia, Kansas, and that portion of the City of Concordia south and east of a line following the center of the street beginning at the south city limits and Lincoln Street (U.S. Highway 81), thence north on Lincoln Street to 14th Street, thence east to Hill Street, thence north to 11th Street, thence east to the city limits.

Pat Murk - Position No. 7 - Member at Large, representing the entire school district.

  • Audit Report FY 2006

Dennis Miller, CPA, with Mapes and Miller, presented the audit for the district for FY 2006.  The only reportable item was segregation of duties and Dennis clarified that the district is too small to segregate duties any further, but he does make this notation each year in the audit.

  • Auditor Requested Changes to CHS Activity Fund Accounts

The board approved the auditor's requested changes to account numbers as presented.

  • Approve the Revised Articles of Agreement to Organize and Operate a Special Education Cooperative

The board approved the revisions to the agreement for LCNCK.  This was required due to the addition of Washington Co. USD #108 and the consolidation of Republic Co. USD #109.

  • Accept Resignation

The board approved the resignation of Jodi Walters, first grade teacher, at semester pending the finding of a suitable replacement.  The board wishes Jodi and her family well.
