Students as Teachers
Mrs. Janice Swenson's 5th Grade
May 12, 2006
5th graders in Mrs. Janice Swenson's class became teachers on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 when they traveled to Silver Lake, Kansas to teach Bal-A-Vis-X to Mrs. Sherma Phelps' 4th graders. Both classes spent the late morning and early afternoon hours in the High School gym helping each other learn three ball juggling.
The fourth graders were just beginning to learn the three ball juggling and CMS fifth graders were certain they could help them master the skill. It worked and as often happens, the teachers even learned a thing or two from the fourth graders!
Bal-A-Vis-X is a balance, vision, rhythm exercise program based on brain research that was developed by Mr. Bill Hubert of Wichita, Kansas. It uses beanbags, racquet balls, and balance boards in rhythm exercises designed to stimulate both sides of the brain to ready students for learning.
